1. Fathered a daughter. (This isn't all that uncommon, but it is the most important.)
2. Carried a swan wrapped in my jacket from a bridge to the river's edge, and on another occasion carried a swallow, cupped in my hands, from where it was trapped in a storeroom to the outdoors where it soared free from my hands quicker than my eye could follow.
3. Made Valentine's Day cards by hand for the last ten years (at least) for the same special person.
4. Passed the Irish driving test first time. (This one's recent and I'm still not quite over it.)
5. Been woken at 2 o'clock in the morning by an overdosing girlfriend. She survived, our relationship didn't.
6. Had a large black man squeeze my penis while chatting knowledgably about the standard of education in Ireland.
7. Had the bus I was travelling in stopped to allow the police and emergency services clean up the site of an assassination.
8. Been paid for writing reviews of role-playing games.
9. Watched Eddie Izzard do a show in broken French in La Boule Noire, Paris, while explaining the bilingual puns to friends sitting adjacent.
10. Written for an APA for over 5 years solid without missing a month's contribution. (I suspect there's a few of you out there who have done this.)
and one I know that many of you will have done: Considered moving house just to get more space for books.
