We're out at Supernova, Ballincollig, another of the several 'soft play' centres around Cork. This one is larger than the others and boasts an ice rink upstairs but after my last encounter with skates (inline rollers) years ago I'm not going anywhere near them.

Instead I'm watching Rowan and her old crechemate, Alex, scoot about the place in a state of high excitement, climbing on and jumping off EVERYTHING. I'm exhausted just watching them.

Another family Sunday. Home later to wrap up my zine for A&E and collapse.

an ice rink? a real live rink? Are adults allowed? I haven't skated in years but I loved it and I thought there were no rinks left in Ireland

Yep, adults too. €13 for 90 minutes says the sign, between 10.00 and 23.00.

Westpoint Business Park, Link Road, Ballincollig, 021 4826905, if you're interested.

Wow €13 euro? that's steep - though its been long enough since I last skated that it could well be the normal price I happily paid before (also I paid in sterling so...)

However I will be looking into going - thank you so much for the details...I wonder if they do classes...

The flyer we picked up says lessons and group sessions available, but doesn't mention a price. Give 'em a ring.

I thought €13 was a bit pricey too, but if they're the only game in town...

so cool - I need exercise and I always enjoyed skating- if I can get lessons and go enjoy myself I will. I owe you one for telling us about this.

Maybe they rent the skates as well?

It still seriously sounds like a load of fun for everyone, especially watching DD bounce off the (rubber) walls. Certainly more fun than my cleaning out the garage today.

P.S. Thanks for reminding me about A&E; I got a quickie 3 page submission in just under the wire.

3 pages is a quickie? I started early this month and I still only managed 5 pages.

Well, I recycled at least two previous book reviews, so that helped to pad things out. Ditto using two photos for filler.

FYI it is not real Ice but synthetic material.
Bit harder specially to skate backward but still great fun ;0)
