A very happy Canada Day (a little late but what else can you expect from us Easterners) to all my Canadian friends, be they Canuck by birth, adoption or the alignment of the stars.

Perhaps the People's Republic of Cork and Canuckistan should form a Union of Serially Sloshed Republics.

That must be the Quebecois influence. I remember a lot of the permanent staff at the Service d'Astrophysique where I worked in Paris would take a glass (or two) with lunch. Now that's civilisation.

Belated chorus of the Canadian National Anthem from me, which as I understand it, is yon Joni Mitchell song, as of some time in the late '70s. (Could be worse, could have been made Rush's YYZ -- imagine brass bands struggling with the time signature of that intro...)
