We had [livejournal.com profile] irishkate and [livejournal.com profile] alaimacerc round last night and played Ticket to Ride. It was [livejournal.com profile] irishkate's first game of TTR, which explains why she creamed us. Final score something like [livejournal.com profile] irishkate 130+, me 100, [livejournal.com profile] sammywol 98, and [livejournal.com profile] alaimacerc 50+.

A good draw of a late game ticket helped [livejournal.com profile] irishkate, but really she would have won handily even with her starting tickets. A good run all across the Canadian cities at the top of the board secured her big tickets and gave her a good reach to lots of other cities.

Beginner's luck, obviously. I'm scared to play Puerto Rico with her, at least for the first time, as she'll probably buy the whole island.

well I was surprised. Delighted of course - I do love to win - but very surprised.

It was cool - I'm afraid to ever play it again cause that win was probably as good as it gets - But it was a lovely way to end the weekend.

Yep, that beginner's luck thing tends to happen a lot in Ticket to Ride, doesn't it? :)

*sigh* I haven't played a game of TTR in at least four months, just because so much else has been going on, and gaming is concentrating on rpgs right now. *sigh*

Well concentrating on RPGs is no bad thing, in my book, so it could be a lot worse.

Certainly true. I have two gaming groups, as you may have noticed from my blog entries :), so it's not like I'm lacking the gaming stuff.

You can always play Ra via Skype again, though your record winning streak with Ra has taken a few knocks in the last couple of games.

We should see if there are some online German board games we could all play in real time via the web. I know BrettSpielWelt does that sort of thing.
