Sometimes I wonder if my life isn't just a tiny bit dull. Here's one side of a phone conversation I overheard as it was shouted down a mobile phone on the street as I strolled by.

"He proposed to me last night."

"I turned him down. And the guy I've loved since I was sixteen has gone to Australia."

"So I've bought a ticket and I'm going out to tell him how I feel. I have to."

"I'll bring my daughter."

"I'm posponing my exams and I'll do them in the Autumn."

"I know! It's like something out of Eastenders."

...that kind of conversation makes me uncertain if I'm doing things right with my life, or very, very wrong...

I know. I was fascinated and a little appalled at the same time, but part of me wants to know how it turns out.

I hope she gets her man.

And even if she doesn't, good on her for the dramatic gesture!

I'm glad she turned down the guy she didn't love ...

Precisely. I may have come across as making fun of the situation, but I was impressed that she was following her heart.

She mentioned too that she'd called the guy in Australia and he was delighted, so I'm hopeful it will all work out.

That really is sort of sweet. :-)

That's a plus - it's a good idea to follow your heart, but even better to know that your heart isn't running away for a reason. I do hope it all works for her.

I wonder if this is a new kind of art - to make up stories that can be told as one side of conversations shouted to a mobile phone in a crowded street or train. I've certainly heard a few of them!

If my life is boring on this scale, then, yay, boring!

I just hope she's not too shattered if he doesn't love her back.
