Rowan Tree and Red Thread

On my walk to work this morning I was passed by a couple riding on a bicycle. The fellow was dressed in a shirt, jeans and trainers, the woman in a debs gown. She was barefoot, her shoes clutched in one hand, as she sat, somewhat shakily, on the crossbar of the bicycle. He pedaled along at an even pace and as they passed me she turned to him and they kissed, with obvious enjoyment, in the morning rush of traffic.

I refrained, with some regret, from cheering.

I seem to get a lot of chewing/bubble gum. Oh my aching jaws.

Clearly the sniffle season is back in full swing. My daughter is going around with a runny nose, complaining of a "code" and one of my office mates has just deafened me with a double report from the opening cannonade at the Battle Of Austerlitz.
