Today is our national holiday celebrating our national saint, Patrick. We traditionally go out, watch the parade and get rained on and this year was no exception. The parade this year in Cork was compact, to be polite, or pretty short, if you're being more blunt. Nonetheless we had fun, our daughter was suitably awed by the passing drums, dragons and a pirate ship. I was favourably impressed by the various cultural and national representatives from places like Cote d'Ivoire, Mali, Poland and the Phillipines. Even in the few years I've been in Cork since I moved back from France I've noticed an improvement in the mix and variety of people in the city. I was happy to see some of them taking their place in the parade.
After the parade, the pizza. We went to a local pizza joint and had a pleasant lunch together before making our soggy way home through the rain. Luckily we're only about ten minutes walk from the city centre.
