On Tuesday I went for an eye check-up. A couple of years ago I was warned about the possibility of glaucoma so I try to get my eyes tested regularly. This time I went to a new specialist, recommended by a friend. He was helpful, straightforward and professional. He had good news and bad(ish) news for me, however. I don't appear to have any signs of glaucoma, which is good, but I'm going to need glasses for distance work, which is bad. One more sign of the laws of thermodynamics grinding away at me, no doubt.
I'm more or less okay with the idea of glasses, as I was sure my sight had dis-improved in the last year. I know that I've been tired and my eyes sore with all the computer work I do, and playing on them at home doesn't help much either. So I'm picking up two pairs (two for one at Specsavers, natch) on Monday. I can't wait for my first chance to look disapprovingly over the lenses at someone. If only I had long hair tied in a bun and a job as a librarian too.
