I got Stroud's second book in the Bartimaeus Trilogy from the library. I read the first in the series a while back and thoroughly enjoyed it. The second is no disappointment after the first, and features much of the same fun and games with Nathaniel, Kitty and of course Bartimaeus. We see something more of the precarious political underpinnings of this world Stroud has created while following Nathaniel's ups and downs as he gets closer to the heart of the government. This book features golems, an animated skeleton of Gladstone and political manoeuvring all merrily mixed together while Bartimaeus comments acerbically on it all. Great fun.
