The BBC have a test to see how good you are at spotting fake smiles.

There's a short video clip for each question so it will take a while if you're on dial up.

I got 15/20 right, so I'm better at it than I thought I was. Unfortunately it doesn't tell me what the average result is so I can't lord it over everyone else.

There was something about a test like this (maybe even this one) in the paper quite recently: Apparently, despite the stereotype that it's women who are supposed to be better at the empathy stuff, men have proven more likely than women to spot false smiles... That article didn't say anything about the rate of 'false positive' results, though, so maybe men are just more cynical rather than more empathetic...

A very interesting quiz.

I also got 15/20 correct (and I'm kicking myself by voting the wrong way on two 'maybes'). I'm also curious as to what the average was.
