Michael Mee doing stand up on Paramount: Why are they called the Netherlands and not Holland? Well, as a Dutch man explained it's Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg, which equals BENELUX. If you called it Holland it would have to be BEHOLUX (pronounced Bollocks with a Cork accent).

Maybe you had to be there.

I have now been saying this all weekend in various version of what I believe the Cork accent to be, trying to get the two sides to match. I may have to hunt and trap a Cork person in order to get some sleep tonight.

Well, to be fair, it may have been only in Michael Mee's particular accent. He does claim to be from Cork, however, so I'm confident that my anecdote is covered by at least one case (and mathematically proven thereby).
