Prompted by Matt Synder's RPG meme.

RPG meme bandwagon

1. What is the first RPG you ever played?

SPI's DragonQuest in 1982. Shortly followed by Basic D&D.

2. What RPG do you currently play most often?

HeroQuest, modified to a d12 system. Gotta love those d12s.

3. What is the best system you've played?

Over the Edge. It really just doesn't get in the way of playing.

4. What is the best system you've run?

Pendragon. Despite its flaws, I love that game dearly, and it's provided some of the most memorable role-playing moments in my gaming life.

5. Would you consider yourself an: Elitist/ Min-Maxer/ Rules Lawyer?

I'm primarily a GM, so my particular vice is rules tinkering.

6. If you could recommend a new RPG which would you recommend? Why?

Primetime Adventures by Matt Wilson. A good design, clearly presented, and (at last) several steps away from the D&D heritage so many games share unconsciously.

7. How often do you play?

Once a week, mostly.

8. What sort of characters do you play? Leader? Follower? Comic Relief? Roll-Player/ Role-Player?

I'm the GM and have been for the last 5 or 6 years.

9. What is your favorite Genre for RPGs?

I'm too much of a gadfly to have a favourite.

10. What Genres have you played in?
High fantasy, traditional D&D fantasy, ancient world, Arthurian, modern horror, 20s horror, post-apocalyptic, sci-fantasy, hard SF, Wodehouse farce, Arabian Nights, 4-colour superheroes, alternate reality historical superheroes, talking animals and others I've forgotten.

11. Do you prefer to play or GM? Do you do both?

I prefer to GM. I do like to play, but it's rare that I get the chance, and when I do, I have to work hard not to second-guess the GM.

12. Do you like religion in your games?

Yes, when appropriate.

13. Do you have taboo subjects in your games or is everything "fair game"?

I think there are certainly unspoken limits that our group would be uncomfortable crossing. Unspoken, but I hope that we'd be able to stop and discuss things should anyone become unhappy with the way the game was progressing.

14. Have you developed your own RPG before?

A half-finished diceless adaptation of Ursula Le Guin's A Wizard of Earthsea and sequels.

15. Have you ever been published in the Gaming Industry? If so...what?

Just a couple of reviews in Interaction, and a minor contribution to Unknown Armies 2e.

It's the Crown of Umma-Knork, as crafted by the Dream-Smiths of Twinoc many ages ago.

Either that, or it's the tea cosy down at Sam's parents' place doing service as a hat while I entertain Rowan in the uncropped full pic.
