Rowan Tree and Red Thread

sammywol and I were out at a party this weekend. Wow, a party! We haven't done one of those in ages. A good friend of ours was celebrating her 30th birthday (30! Ha! Haven't seen the uphill slope[1] of that in years) and invited us both over. Quandary: two of us at a party, who's looking after our daughter? Solution: My mother planned to come down for the weekend and fortuitously hit the one day we needed a baby sitter. Thanks, Sally!

So we made it to the party, parked outside in the car park of the shopping centre near our friend's house and eyed with some reservations the assembled horde of 15-16 year olds pissing about and hanging out. They proved to be harmless in the end. At the party we met a collection of computer science people from UCC, graduates of computer science in UCC and an old workmate from Alcatel and his wife whom I haven't seen in years. All were in good form, there was plenty of food and drink, and I enjoyed myself. Nobody got plastered either, so I was suitably impressed.

Our friend has a job interview tomorrow, on her actual birth date. I hope she gets the present of a job offer.
