Not to worry, my socks have long since dried out. If the weather's going to be like this from now on though I might invest in a water-proof backpack. I had lots of damp tissues and water-damaged bits of paper when I got to work.

Waterproof backpack covers are good - I have a high-vis one bright enough to cause an accident far enough behind me that I won't be involved.
