I'm no medieval scholar (though I know a couple) but I find it charming and fascinating to look at these web pages from the British Library showing images of the Winchester Manuscript, our earliest example of Malory's Le Morte Darthur and one of the manuscripts that Caxton worked from in producing the first printed editions of Malory's tale.

And it's the British Library that has the work called Le Morte Darthur. I always thought it was Le Morte d'Arthur. I'll go ask one of those scholars...

Malory was (probably) a rapist and an outlaw and a cattle thief! He snaps his fingers at apostrophes.

He sounds like a strange amalgam of Pendragon characters past. He'd fit right in with our group.
