Hey, hey. I've just found out that someone was murdered on our street about a half-dozen doors up the hill. I thought there was something funny going on when we saw a collection of camera-toting people and a few Gardai hanging around outside the building. We're just back from a picnic in the park and I've been doorstepped twice by journalists (one from Cork radio station Red FM, the other from RTE News) for my reaction. Given that the radio journalist had to tell me what had happened I'm not sure my response was all that revealing, but it was certainly unrehearsed.
I've no idea who the victim was, what happened or why. Neighbours say that the place was know for drug deals and disruptive parties. Who knew?
It certainly doesn't endear the neighbourhood to me any further, coming on top of the break-in and cases of car vandalism of the last couple of years.
