Rowan Tree and Red Thread

Today be sammywol's and my 10th wedding anniversary, as we is reckonin' such. Heed not earlier announcements of the same: today is the day!

*Ahem*

We were wed on a glorious September day a decade ago and exchanged our rings before our friends and family assembled. We each wore the ring we were to give for about a month before the big day, hoping in some symbolic way to endow the rings with a part of ourselves. Exchanging the rings thereby passing something of ourselves into the safekeeping of the other.

Our hearts changed hands years before.

Ten years seems a short time, but we managed to keep those hearts safe. I love your warm hands around my heart. I love you sammywol.

Arr my hearties, 'tis the 19th day of September, a day dear to my heart and tripes. For 'tis the day when I, eight years back now, did splice my lanyard to that of my goodly wife, sammywol. We've been sailing the seas ever since, sometimes before the mast, sometimes below decks in the Capt'n's cabin (ay, saucy, I know), but always with a laugh, a song and a barrelful of some reasonably priced caribbean rum.
