Oliver Postgate, genius, has died. A moment's silence, followed by respectful Clanger noises for the man who made so many of the beautiful imaginings that populated my TV screen when I was a child.

Really? I can't imagine not knowing about Noggin the Nog or Ivor the Engine, and Bagpuss is such a staple of childhood that even Rowan is now calling her pink and white fluffy cat by the name.

And the Clangers is simply inspired surreal SF disguised as a kids' show.
